I’m Georgie, a freelance Illustrator & Printmaker based in Greater Manchester.

After discovering a love for linocut in my second year of Leeds College of Art (now Leeds Arts Uni) I began building up a portfolio of bold, graphic work. I’m heavily influenced by horror, history, folklore and the curious or peculiar. Having a dark or macabre element in my work, or the story behind it, is what keeps me inspired. I absolutely love old horror films, especially the ones that feature really amazing practical effects.. you know, like The Thing, Alien, Hellraiser etc.. and I think this bleeds into my work a lot.

I can, and do, work digitally. When the project calls for it I use Photoshop to emulate a hand-printed lino aesthetic. However, I find the challenge of linocut and the process of carving really satisfying. Plus I’m total a perfectionist when it comes to trying to get the smallest, neatest details possible.

Most recently I’ve created illustrations for articles and essays featured in BBC History Magazine.
